about yoga therapy

“Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being though the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.”

definition by the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists)

In Yoga Therapy, my goal is to customize the most appropriate and efficient modality for you, in order to optimize your healing, wholeness, and improved quality of life.

Yoga is a wholistic art and science. It embraces all aspects of our human experience: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Modalities used include physical poses (asana), movement sequences (vinyasa), breath work (pranayama), self-reflection (swadhyaya), meditation (dhyana), guided visualization (yoga nidra), cognitive reframing (pratipaksha bhavana), energy work (prana vidya) and/or sound healing (nada yoga).

The modalities are carefully chosen based on your goals, and our detailed intake and assessment. You will receive a simple home practice plan to help you establish the new habits that will tune-up your body, mind and breath.

The physical poses and vinyasa of Yoga are designed to re/build strength, flexibility and symmetry in the body. The breathing and mindfulness practices regulate our nervous and hormonal systems. Yoga offers us many simple and effective ways to reduce the ravages of stress, and to open us up to our full potential.
